Lileks 73, Olberman 0

Just read it, and ponder the tragedy of a nation that gives Keith Olberman a responsible job.

Olberman is great, but he needs to stop thinking he's the Murrow of our generation.

While we're at it, should Bush really be comparing himself to Churchill and Lincoln? Cause I'm thinking more along the lines of James Buchanan meets Don Knotts. Maybe Hoover crossed with Charles Nelson Reilly?

Oooo, cool, what's your fave thing about Olberman? I like his suits. And he's really cute when he does the jutting jaw thing.

Mitch, your question would make it seem he was a good sportscaster. He is horrible. (Note: not a fan of Dan Patrick, either.)

From the Bleat:

"...he will instantly become a footnote the moment something horrible and significant happens, and his nonsense is swamped by things that actually happen, instead of things he believes are actually suggested."

Something tells me that Lileks (and many Shot in the Dark fans) would actually welcome an event "horrible and significant" if it meant taking uppity liberals like Olbermann and his Manhattanite pals down a peg or two. Just another in a long line of pants-wetters (if the shoe fits) who have turned their rage not on the enemy but on newspapers, anti-war commentators and fancypants big city folk. It wasn't so long ago that Lileks was fantasizing about an east coast nuclear holocaust, was it? (Scroll down to March 5):

Personally, I loved the Olbermann-Patrick duo on SportsCenter. They were great. And the book they wrote together about their SportsCenter experiences was hilarious.

So it puzzled me all the more when Olbermann came down with Bush Derangement Syndrome. What a terrible thing it is to lose one's mind.

"Something tells me that. . ."

Dear Tim, please invest in a new "Something." Your current "Something" is quite clearly malfunctioning.

What Ryan said. Tim, you're an idiot.

Posted by: Kermit at September 20, 2006 10:36 PM

Oh, Tim's got me pegged. I pray for a crippling strike on America, because the loss of life, economic impact, social disorder and the horrible consequences of an inevitable reprisal would be a fair price to pay for knowing Keith Olbermann might possibly have a moment of self-doubt. Such is my rage.

At least Tim seems to think there's an "enemy," which is a good start.

North Dakota is the guy sitting at the very end of a fifty-man bench, never getting into the game. Day in, day out. Nuclear war is the only play you know. North Dakotans pray for nuclear war every morning over their cornflakes.

I thought it was kind of rude not to sit and chat with the other moms.

Hey JB, did you see this post from a couple days ago?

Mitch boasted:

"I Know Stuff

"Among the stuff I know is the very, very basics of investigative journalism."

I'm thinking this claim could be the one that actually makes your head explode. And then you'd be dead, which would work for me.
